What stays on your phone
Your save
Your coins, seeds, plants, flowers, Florilegium, level and breeding log are saved to a file in the app's private storage on your phone, with a backup copy beside it. Other apps can't read it, and it never leaves your phone.
Your settings
Sound, music and effects volume, the glow setting and your notification choice are kept in the app's settings on your phone.
The error log
If something goes wrong in the game, the error is written to a small log file on your phone so problems can be tracked down. Each entry holds the time, the app version, a random code that changes every time you open the game, and the technical error message. It doesn't include your name, account, device ID or anything about you. The log is capped at 256 KB and old entries roll off.
The game never sends this log anywhere. If you report a bug, we may ask you to share it, and you choose whether to.
Notifications
The game can remind you when flowers are ready to open. These reminders are off until you turn them on, and on newer Android versions your phone also asks for permission. They're scheduled by your phone itself, not sent from a server.
You'll get at most one a day, and never between 9 pm and 8 am. You can turn them off in the game's Settings or in your phone's settings at any time.
Unity and the app stores
The game is built with the Unity engine. Unity's analytics, ads, in-app purchase and performance-reporting services are all switched off. The engine can still send anonymous hardware statistics (such as the device model, operating system and graphics chip) to Unity Technologies when the game starts. We plan to switch this off before the game launches, and will update this section when we do. See Unity's privacy policy.
Google Play and the App Store handle downloads, updates and reviews under their own privacy policies. We may see the anonymous, combined statistics they give every developer, such as install counts and crash rates.
What we don't do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No ads, and no advertising IDs.
- No analytics or tracking tools.
- No in-app purchases in the current version.
- No access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts or photos.
- We don't sell or share data, because we don't have any of yours.
The game only touches your clipboard when you tap a flower's tag to copy it.
Children
The game doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Deleting your data
Everything is on your phone, so you're in control of it. Settings → Reset save in the game starts your garden over. Uninstalling the game deletes the save, settings and error log. There's nothing on our side to delete, but you're welcome to hello@heirbloomgame.com with any question.
Planned: cloud saves
For the public beta, we plan to keep saves on our server so your garden survives a lost phone and can't be tampered with. That will mean storing your save and an account or device identifier on our server. Before that ships, this policy will be updated to say exactly what is stored, where, for how long and how to delete it, and the game will tell you.
Changes and contact
When the game changes what it does with data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For anything about privacy, write to hello@heirbloomgame.com.
